It's always going to be Wizard because the class has the most utility options. It's the same in every game pretty much.
Morrowind is dreadfully boring as a pure fighter. Magic just makes games more fun, more options is always a good thing. If the options actually unlock new things to do, rather than just more damage. Which is why magic in something like Skyrim is boring, you only really have 2 options, damage or healing, both of which you can just do as a regular fighter.
